If you're planning a trip to Singapore and find yourself lost in the visa application process, you're in the right place. This guide is specifically designed for individuals residing in Malaysia under certain passes (Student Pass, Employment Pass, Permanent Residency, or MM2H) and for nationals from a list of specified countries.

Eligible Nationalities: This post is tailored for nationals from Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Tunisia, Yemen, Syria, Nigeria, Mali, holders of Palestinian Authority Passports, temporary passports issued by the UAE, and Refugee Travel Documents issued by Middle East countries. If you're from another country, obtaining a Singapore tourist visa is generally straightforward and follows a similar process to other countries.

What You Need to Apply:

Agency Application: You cannot apply for a Singapore tourist visa by yourself; it must be done through a Singapore-assigned agency.

Form 14A: Fill out and download form 14a from the embassy's website. It's a basic application form.

Passport and Photocopies: Bring your original passport (valid for at least six months) and photocopies of the bio and visa pages. The agency will return your passport immediately after verifying your identity.

Passport-Size Photo: A 35mm x 45mm photo with a white background is required.

Bank Statements: Present your latest three months' Malaysian bank statements. If you don’t have a Malaysian bank account, you can also show your home country's bank statement, particularly if you're under 18 or a new student who hasn't opened a bank account yet. Make sure your transactions don’t look suspicious (e.g., sudden large deposits).

Hotel and Ticket Confirmation: You can book hotels through sites like Booking.com without prepayment. For flight tickets, either use a website or ask the agency for help.

Confirmation Letter: If you are a student, bring a letter from your university. Employment pass holders should bring a letter from their company. You will need two copies. One which you will submit with your application and another one you need to submit it to your embassy for the LOI.

Letter of Introduction (LOI): If you don't have a local contact in Singapore, you will need an LOI from your embassy. Each embassy has different requirements for this letter, including the fee and the time taken to issue it. For example, the Bangladesh High Commission issues it in one day for a fee of RM 45, and you must visit the High Commission with your payment slip, passport bio page copy, valid visa copy, confirmation letter and an application before 11 AM. You can collect your LOI the same day between 2 PM and 6 PM.

Important Tips:

  • Timing: Make sure all your documents, including your travel dates on the visa application, hotel booking, confirmation letter, and LOI, are consistent to avoid complications or rejection. The visa process typically requires at least 5 working days.
  • eVisa: You will receive an eVisa; there are no entry and exit stamps on your passport, but you will get an e-stamp via email after passing through immigration.

I applied for my visa through Otuss Vacations Sdn Bhd, an Authorized Visa Agent by the High Commission of the Republic of Singapore in Kuala Lumpur.

That's all you need to know! Safe travels!
